If you’re searching for one of the top summer events in Killington, Vermont, the annual Killington Chili Cook-Off is a can’t-miss. Now in its 12th year, this community favorite brings together locals and visitors for a flavorful evening full of spice, live music, and friendly competition. Taking place on Thursday, August 7th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the scenic K-1 Base Lodge at Killington Resort, this event is one of the best family-friendly activities Killington has to offer during the summer months.
Whether you’re a seasoned chef, a home cook with a secret recipe, or simply someone who loves good food, this cook-off has something for everyone. Entry is free for participants, and contestants are asked to bring at least four gallons of chili to serve to hungry guests and judges alike. Categories for judging include People’s Choice, Best Vegetarian Chili, Most Creative, and Best Presentation. Setup begins before 5 PM, and while electricity isn’t guaranteed, chafing dishes are highly recommended to keep your chili hot and ready for the crowd.
For attendees, tickets are just $10 per person, $15 per couple, or $25 for a family of four, making this an affordable night out in Killington. You’ll get to taste a wide variety of chili recipes—from traditional beefy classics to vegan and wildly inventive takes—and cast your vote for your favorite. Live music by Rick Reddington and The Luv sets the tone for a fun and relaxed evening, and there will also be a cash bar on site (note: no outside alcohol allowed).
