Pond Skim at Killington: The Ultimate Spring Send-Off

The annual Pond Skim at Killington Resort is one of the most entertaining and unforgettable traditions of the spring skiing season, bringing together skiers and snowboarders for a high-energy celebration at the base of the mountain. It takes place on April 11th, 2026, and will be held near the K-1 Lodge. The skimming begins at 11AM, challenging participants to glide across a man-made pond of icy water, testing their speed, balance, and a little bit of luck as they attempt to make it across without taking a freezing plunge.

The Pond Skim is iconic, and it isn’t just the challenge—it’s the atmosphere. Riders show up in outrageous costumes, crowds gather for a front-row view of the chaos, and every run delivers either a smooth skim or a splash that sends everyone into laughter. With judging categories like best costume, best skim, and biggest wipeout, the event leans just as much into creativity and entertainment as it does skill.

The Pond Skim is a must-see experience and a perfect way to soak in the energy of spring in Killington. Spectating is free, and the base area turns into a full-on party with music, sunshine, and that classic end-of-season vibe that defines skiing in Vermont. Whether you’re watching from the sidelines or gearing up to take your own shot at crossing the pond, it’s the kind of event that perfectly captures the fun, unpredictable spirit of spring on the mountain.
