Summer in Killington is officially teeing off once again as the Michelob ULTRA Golf League returns to the Killington Golf Course for another season of competition, local prizes, cold drinks, and mountain town nightlife. Running every Thursday evening from June 11 through August 27, the league has quickly become one of Killington’s most popular weekly summer traditions, bringing together locals, seasonal workers, golfers, and visitors for laid-back but competitive nights on the course.
The league follows a 9-hole scramble tournament format and is open to anyone 21 years or older. Players can sign up as a full team of four or register individually and be paired with other golfers. Each Thursday features a shotgun start at 5:00 p.m., with the final two league nights shifting slightly earlier to 4:30 p.m. due to daylight. After play wraps up, golfers head back to the Killington Clubhouse for dinner, awards, raffles, and post-round drinks, helping turn the event into more than just a golf tournament — it has become one of the biggest recurring social events of the summer season in Killington.
This year’s league once again uses all 18 holes of the Killington Golf Course, with two simultaneous 9-hole scramble tournaments taking place each week on both the front and back nine depending on attendance. Frequent players and season-long teams rotate between the two courses throughout the summer, helping keep competition balanced and the experience fresh week after week.
One of the most unique parts of the league is the Michelob ULTRA McGonagle Cup, a season-long points competition named after beloved Killington golf enthusiast Joseph James Bobby Peterson. Players accumulate points throughout the summer based on team placements, attendance, contest wins, raffle victories, and special putting or chipping competitions. At the end of the season, one overall winner earns permanent recognition on the McGonagle Cup along with a custom engraved glass mug and a place in Killington golf lore.
The league also heavily incorporates local businesses into the experience. Weekly prizes and raffle giveaways are donated by Killington-area restaurants, bars, and retailers including The Garlic, Casey’s Caboose, The Lookout Tavern, Sushi Yoshi, Basecamp, and First Stop Board Barn. That local sponsorship element has helped the Golf League become another strong example of Killington’s tight-knit mountain town culture, where businesses and community events constantly overlap throughout both the winter and summer seasons.
Killington Resort has continued expanding its summer events calendar in recent years as it pushes harder toward becoming a true four-season destination instead of only a winter ski resort. Alongside the Michelob ULTRA Golf League, the resort now hosts mountain biking race series, concerts, trail running events, golf tournaments, Brewfest, Spartan races, and large-scale outdoor festivals throughout the warmer months. Resort officials recently described the summer 2026 lineup as one of the most packed event schedules the mountain has ever hosted.
For locals and visitors alike, the Michelob ULTRA Golf League offers a mix of casual competition and classic Killington summer energy. Whether players are chasing the McGonagle Cup, trying to win weekly contests, or simply looking for a fun Thursday night on the mountain with friends, the league has become one of the signature social events of the summer season in Killington.
