Killington Turkey Trot 2026 | Thanksgiving 5K in Killington, VT

Thanksgiving morning in Killington is about more than getting the turkey in the oven. Before settling in for food, football, and the rest of the holiday festivities, locals and visitors can start their day with one of Killington’s favorite Thanksgiving traditions: the 15th Annual Killington Turkey Trot. The Killington Turkey Trot 2026 takes place on Thursday, November 26, bringing runners, walkers, families, and friends together for a Thanksgiving morning 5K through Killington.

The 5K begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Pickle Barrel, located at 1741 Killington Road in Killington, Vermont. Race-day registration begins at 8:00 a.m., giving participants plenty of time to check in and get ready before hitting the course. Registration is $30 before race day and $35 on race day. The event is open to all ages, and you don’t need to be an experienced runner to participate. So if you’re looking to race the course or take a Thanksgiving morning walk with friends and family, everyone is welcome. In true Vermont fashion, the event is scheduled to take place rain, snow, or ice.

The Killington Turkey Trot 2026 is also about supporting the local community. Each year, the event selects a local charitable organization to receive its net proceeds, and this year’s Turkey Trot will benefit Killington Search and Rescue. Supporting the organization makes every mile a little more meaningful while helping the people who work to keep residents and visitors safe throughout the Killington area.

The Turkey Trot has deep roots in the Killington community. Kasie and Jamie Munson started the event in 2011 following the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Irene, which left many Vermont communities dealing with significant damage and residents stranded. What began during a difficult moment for the area has continued to grow into an annual Thanksgiving tradition centered around community, giving back, and bringing people together.

The fun doesn’t end when you cross the finish line. After completing the 5K, participants can stick around at the Pickle Barrel for live music, drinks, and raffle prizes. It makes the Turkey Trot more than just a morning run. It’s an opportunity to spend some time with the Killington community and start Thanksgiving Day with friends, family, and fellow visitors before heading off for the holiday feast.

Thanksgiving is also an exciting time to be in Killington, with visitors arriving for the holiday and the winter season getting underway. The Turkey Trot provides a great way to get outside and experience the local community before enjoying everything else Killington has to offer throughout Thanksgiving weekend.
